Accent Clinical Services

Accent provides a range of private health services to clients of the community. Accent accepts referrals from the injured person (self referral),   all levels of insurers, public and private hospitals, medical centres, specialist units and other government and private medical facilities.

Accent provides clinical services in a flexible manner that is tailored to the individual's need.  Services can be provided as a one-off assessment or treatment for one specific clinical reason or in combination by multiple therapists for multiple different needs.  Accent can be work with the person for both short or long periods of time.  All programmes are goal directed.

 

Services are provided for clients of all ages, spanning childhood through adolescence, adulthood and the aged.

 

Accent clinical services include:

  • Assessment of the person's abilities and environment.
  • Case management to assist the person manage their rehabilitation.
  • Therapy and treatment tailored to the person's individual needs.
  • Discharge planning to facilitate a smooth transition between hospital and home.
  • Training, wellbeing and health promotion programmes for individuals and groups.
  • Research into clinical areas impacting upon service delivery and service development.
  • Consultancy services.

 

Assessment of the person's abilities and environment.

Occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, rehabilitation counsellors and educators and trainers can undertake assessment of a person's ability to participate in daily activities.  Daily activities include self care, play, education, work and leisure and sport activities.  Part of the assessment looks at the person's ability to interact with other people and behave according to different situations.

 

Assessment can occur in the person's home, play area, school or educational facility and work environment.

 

Accent offers assessment for adaptive equipment and wheelchair prescription to facilitate safety and independence in the home and community.  Accent's occupational therapists can fabricate splints to assist with maintenance of movement and joint integrity.

 

Accent can undertake level 1, 2, and 3 home modification assessments.

 Accent can assist with the development of attendant care programmes by undertaking care needs assessments.

 Accent undertakes medicolegal assessments of clients post injury for both defendant and plaintiff solicitors.   

 

Case management to assist the person manage their rehabilitation

Case Management is a service, which finds, coordinates and checks on services to meet the individual's needs by assisting the person to work out what services are required and then organises the provision and monitoring of that service. (Case Management Society of Australia).

Accent's case managers assist the person to track and coordinate medical reviews and therapies, liaise with funding bodies including Insurers, Employers and Government Bodies to develop, implement and monitor rehabilitation programmes.
