Resilience training

The ‘Accentuating Resilience' Program ©

Accent's core background is in the management of workplace injuries, advising organisations on matters relating to HR, industrial relations, workplace culture and delivering training programs.  More specifically, Accent has a:

  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of high stress environments due to our day to day work as rehabilitation managers and HR consultants
  • Background in delivering structured and tailored training and wellness programs
  • Partner with RTOs and community colleges to deliver high volume training programs over defined period of time

Together, this has enabled Accent to develop and deliver tailored resilience programs to organisations regardless of size or business type.

The program can be tailored to any organisation but essentiall it is a two phase model including:

1. One day workshop

2. Support program. The Accentuating Resilience Program is supported by an on line e-learning module and phone assistance.

The Accentuating Resilience Program is a vital educational and organisational tool for any organisation. Based on Accent's own working knowledge and management of injured workers, change management, HR leadership practices and a deep understanding of what it takes to be resilient individuals ourselves, Accent understands the inherent challenges any organisation undergoing change or day to day difficult workplace situations faces. This program is necessary for the long term viability of your staff and organisation as it assists to develop a resilient and viable culture.

The Accentuating Resilience Program is clearly distinguished from a generic stress management program or ‘off the shelf' resilience program in that it will be tailored to your organisation and more specifically steers away from generic business speak and jargon.  The program focuses on acquiring a range of tools and team focused techniques that allows individuals to grow and benefit while collectively enhancing a positive and productive workplace culture.

The Accentuating Resilience Program follows a strength based approach.  Attendees are equipped with proactive and preventative skills aimed at changing habitual behaviours by remediating cognitions.  Attendees will shift from a reactive response to perceived negative events to a proactive controlled reaction.  This positive psychology approach will eventuate in the improved wellbeing of the individual, reducing absenteeism and reliance on EAP systems. Ultimately this will permeate to the team and the organisation at large.

This core of skills and behaviours ultimately, over time, culminates at a macro or organisational level, to facilitate cultural change.  The organisation as a whole can affirm the employees progress and a self sustaining culture develops.

Long term:

The long term aim of the model is to build capacity at individual, team and organisational level.  This includes:

  • Developing the ability to praise the struggle and persistence in the face of hardship and adversity.  In other words, celebrating that persistence.
  • Implementing standards of success; developing measures throughout the challenge of change so that success is identifiable.
  • Building individual self efficacy.
  • Building a sense of organisational commitment and success.

Workshop

The Accentuating Resilience Program usually commences with a one day, face to face workshop style session which includes a mix of theory, small group/team breakouts and personal reflection activities.

One presenter facilitates the workshop and session sizes range between 15 to 25 attendees dependant on the operational and logistical needs of of your organisation.

The workshop is designed to accommodate all staff levels.

Accent has the capacity to deliver several workshops concurrently in any workplace (plenary sessions).

Follow up support

A usual follow up and support format is as follows:

1. Follow up email to all attendees outlining the programs key points and ‘tips and tricks' presented.

2. E-learning support - access to resources, case studies and peer support modalities to all  staff as required.  An e-learning solution is accessible, time efficient, immediate, relevant and directly related to the training provided.

3. Phone support tool.  All attendees have an opportunity to request access to a resilience trainer for 15 minutes to further discuss tools, experiences, case studies etc. for up to 12 months post workshop.
